anonymous rooms, Beds unmade the final last shots/end frames of exposed rolls of 35mm film form the starting point for these these artworks.

partially created whilst participating on a professional development studio practice and critical studies course during covid.

taking this passage from ‘necromancer’ by william gibson, as a point of entry, ‘last shots’ is a response to the isolation and medical realities of two friends and a close relative during covid.

photocopy on trace paper suggested itself early on as a substrate. isolation and the ambiguous heterotopia of hotel/hospital rooms The effective, critical mis en scene.

some of what i find interesting in the mediums used lay in chance. the printing ink drying on the surface of the trace paper, suggestive of bubbling skin. an additional element, of ink splatter hinting at the excess fluid spray on withdrawal of a drip or needle.
