“what can an object, which isn’t fulfilling its purpose, speak of?”

ANITA BRYAN, 2008

chairs & graces, SERIES OF 12, 2015 –

C-Type Prints, Etched glass

the empty chair as subject is well documented in art. mona hatoum’s, remains (chair) vi, Andy Warhol’s, electric chair, plus of course van gogh’s, yellow rustic chair as self portrait.

this series sets itself grounded in the obsolete and discarded.

radically familiar objects, placed down in acts of collision amidst quotidian landscapes. invisible PORTRAITURE, The Empty place and sitter As architecture of the unseen.

etched across the surface of these dislocated images are fragments of original text. calling up new perspective and narrative for each abandonment. creating acts of resistance in a collaboration with the poetic. forming CORROsions of consciousness.,
