novel idea III  is the collection of playful, video/audio sketches. each sequence an abstract, narrative film gesture. made in quick succession, one per day over a 30 day period. 

all harness an individual (novel) signature idea. fished from the daily practice of conscious recollection. That of, ‘what remains tangible’ when waking from a hypnopompic dream state.

theoretically speaking, they represent the equivalent of pages in the artist sketch book. where works of provisional struggle to render ideas, which later maybe discarded or grown into substantial works, are first executed.

The sketch book is a private artist space, in which to free oneself to be whimsical, hyperbolic, morose and faltering. these origins are not generally meant for an audience. they are the recordings of failures and elementary successes that are usually of little interest to all but the artist, themselves.

begun in 2023, the novel idea series is now part of an annual, month long practice of micro germinations. pocket recordings and visual gestures, moving-image impressions.
