Muses & Murmurations, is an extension of current and ongoing, works in progress.
an experimental and expanded docu-film, it is a retelling of the story, scandal and survival surrounding a group of finely sculpted marble statues, water follies, from the early 20th century.
commissioned in 1903 by disgraced 19th century financier, Whitaker Wright for his private gardens. the original work as conceived, was never fully realised.
muses and murmurations, tells a curious tale of extraordinary folly. a journey through history and landscape, wealth and acquisition, discord and beauty. from private to commons.
making suspenseful use of vignettes relating to seven personifications of okeanides; METI (WISDOM), KLYMENE (FAME), PLOUTO (WEALTH), TYKHE (GOOD FORTUNE), TELESTO (SUCCESS), PEITHO (PERSUASION) AND NEMESIS (BALANCE). The film is a culmination and interpretation of research and archive based materials. including contemporary footage and interview.
